Accomplishments
and Interests
Argonne, 1994 - present:
- Surface modification of small particle TiO2 for sequestering
and
photoreduction of heavy metal ions.
- The effect of surface modification on structural, dynamic and
redox properties was investigated by FTIR, electron paramagnetic
resonance (EPR) spectroscopies and pulse radiolysis, respectively.
- Found optimal conditions for binding and reduction of Pb2+,
Ni2+
and Cd2+ with modifier that forms charge transfer complex
and
extends the absorption of TiO2 into the visible region enhancing
the utilization of the solar spectrum.
