Research Synopsis

My research focuses on the catalytic evaluation, kinetics, reaction mechanism, and characterization of anodized aluminum oxide (AAO) nanolith-supported catalysts for alkane dehydrogenation and hydrogen production reactions. The catalysts of interest are AAO-coated with an active metal species (i.e., VOx, Pt, and Pd) via atomic layer deposition. This method can precisely control the size, distribution and amount of metal species. The correlations of these factors to the activity and selectivity of the catalysts for propane oxidative dehydrogenation and methanol decomposition are determined. XAFS, DRIFTS, TPR, and BET are the main characterization methods used.
